17/5 The ride is confirmed for this Saturday 21 May 8 am as per below. Conditions are forecast to be mostly sunny but Very Cold. Friday will be similar so the roads should be mostly dry but I would not assume this. A few things to consider:
1. The descent from Lake Mountain is long so make sure you have plenty of warm AND waterproof gear. Again, do not assume it wont be wet. There is no sag wagon…..
2. The cafe is open but take your own food as well. You’ll burn a lot of calories on the climb and keeping warm.
3. Be self sufficient with lights, spare tubes, tools etc.
4. Don’t forget to vote!
5. The lake mountain resort link is below if you want to check out the snow cam

PS if there is a sudden weather change I will update.

Just before winter sets in its a good time for a challenge! This ride is one of many held in Jan by Audax as part of the Warby Lake Mountain Classic. The ride starts in Warburton and rolls through the valley before heading up the Reefton Spur and then on to Lake Mountain. The resort is open for a coffee and cake before the ride pretty much downhill back to Warburton. If youre up for it you can also climb Donna Buang on your way back.
Ive included both rides with gps routes below. Starting point will be at the car park above the footy ground adjacent to the public toilets. Same area as the ride in Jan. Any queries let me know.

150km (Includes Donna)

NOTE: If the weather looks like it will be wet we will postpone to the Sunday (22 May) or the following Saturday (28 May). I’ll give plenty of notice. Rule 5
NOTE 2: It’s also Federal Election Day so it will give you an excuse to vote before the day so you can avoid all the nuffers at the polling booths!
